Dr Chris Chan
Dr Chris Chan is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician consulting at Bayside Pain Management, with a public appointment at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Originally from Perth, Chris completed his undergraduate medical studies at the University of Western Australia, as well as a Master of Public Health, before completing specialist training as a Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine in Newcastle and Melbourne.
After a period of specialist practice in rehabilitation medicine, and inspired to help patients facing the emotional and physical challenges of acute and persistent pain, Chris completed further training in pain medicine at the Barbara Walker Centre for Pain Management and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, obtaining Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Chris is passionate about providing holistic care for patients with non-cancer and cancer pain.
He has recently moved his practice to the inner western suburbs of Melbourne, working closely with local therapists and GPs, and is particularly interested in helping people in the local community navigate pain during and after cancer treatment through a trauma-informed perspective.
He maintains a public appointment in rehabilitation medicine at Barwon Health in Geelong, with a focus on management of complex concussion.
Outside of medicine, Chris prioritises spending time with his wife, their energetic toddler and less-energetic Scottish Fold cat, and enjoys photography, and running to keep fit.
